Video signal flow
The COVID-19 pandemic offered many learning opportunities. One unexpected one, was this: hybrid learning mobile carts built and installed by GWIT audiovisual technicians. The "carts" were mobile pieces of furniture placed into classrooms without computers. These classrooms were previously designated as BYOD (bring your own device). The carts replaced that model. The carts were equipped with a PC, monitor, and a camera with an on-board microphone. This diagram details the video signal flow of the computer on the cart (source)Â to the projector (destination). The rectangles represent pieces of equipment in the signal line and the arrows represent the cables which connect the pieces. This is how I trained student workers to troubleshoot in "cart" classrooms.

DA versus Switcher
This is a way to understand two components of signal flow through comparison. What is a switcher and what is it not? Fans of YouTube may follow vloggers who switch between different cameras to show different views. Chances are, they are using a consumer grade switcher. Professional grade switchers do the same thing, but instead of cameras, they switch between inputs. A DA is sort of the opposite, it splits the signal to two different destinations.
